WE'RE PROUD

TO BE PLATTE :

A Wyoming county where you can walk in the footsteps of early pioneers in the morning, and settle back into modern convenience that night.

If you remember playing “The Oregon Trail,” you’ll get a thrill out of visiting the very trails that thousands of covered wagons rumbled across—and seeing firsthand the ruts their wheels left behind. No fording the river required!

And of course, no trip through Platte County history is complete without a stop at Register Cliff, Wyoming’s own living Facebook predecessor.

When it comes to living history in Platte County, you’ve gotta see:

  • Artifacts and exhibits from times gone by at the Laramie Peak Museum, including an authentic recreation of Wheatland’s first schoolhouse
  • The historic Guernsey Museum, faithfully maintained and presented as it was originally designed more than 80 years ago

Then, to relax and unwind after your day of exploring:

  • Chill out at the state’s oldest soda fountain in Chugwater, followed by dinner with a side of live music
  • Take your pick from the most delicious, down-home dinner options Glendo has to offer
  • Make your way to Guernsey to grab a cold drink, enjoy a home-cooked meal or snag the best slice of pizza in town
  • Head over to Hartville for a steak dinner at the oldest bar in Wyoming
  • Explore Wheatland’s wide variety of locally owned eateries, serving up everything from BBQ and comfort food, to classic Mexican and American favorites

Make it a full adventure—stay the night!

We’re proud to be Platte—and we’re happy you’re here
