Every four years, Platte County voters have an opportunity to renew the lodging tax—a tax that we, as locals, don’t have to pay, and a way for overnight visitors to positively affect our local economy year-round.

On November 5, your vote plays a key role in allowing the lodging tax—and its positive impact on our community—to continue for another four years

Currently, the lodging tax is assessed on every visitor’s overnight stay at a hotel, motel, or rental property in Platte County.

The funds collected are then used by the
Platte County Lodging Tax and Tourism Joint Powers Board to:

Enhance

our local economy

Promote

local events, tourism, and the hospitality industry

Market

Platte County as a
destination of choice

In the last fiscal year alone, the lodging tax has already generated
$207,000 for Platte County!

One of the many ways those funds benefit our community is in the form of local grants, awarded to events and organizations that promote overnight stays in Platte County and enhance the visitor experience.

Past grant recipients have included:

  • Blue Mountain Car Show in Wheatland
  • Chugwater Chili Cookoff
  • Glendo Chariot Races
  • Glendo State Finals Chariot Races
  • Glendo 4th of July
    Ranch Rodeo
  • Wheatland High School Old Grads
  • Salsa Competition
  • Sunrise Historic and Prehistoric Preservation Society (SHAPPS)
Since the program began in 2015,
the lodging tax has generated a total of

$1.5 million

for Platte County.

… all of which goes far in creating stronger, more welcoming communities for everyone to enjoy!
